Physiotherapy utilizes a comprehensive orthopaedic and functional assessment identifying limitations that contribute to symptoms. Upon diagnosis, a customized treatment plan consisting of manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, and other modalities will be created to address the injury.
Vestibular Therapy
Investigation of eye performance and inner ear function to determine the effect on concussion recovery. Injuries to these areas typically reduce a patient’s ability to read, drive, and navigate busy environments like grocery shopping).
Balance & Gait Assessment & Rehabilitation
Assessment of balance to ensure safe return to household activities, outdoor activities, and sports. Fall prevention/reduction reduces potential for future concussions while improving a patient’s quality of life.
Return to Work/Play Assessment & Plan
Our health professionals create a plan for returning to work/play/school and would reflect information attained in a functional movement screening to determine the individual’s strength, exertion tolerance and ImPACTas well as necessary limitations that must be recognized.
Intramuscular Stimulation Treatment
Direct stimulation of the muscles with a dry needle (no syringe) can lead to reflexive relaxation of the muscles and improve blood flow to the injured area. This improves oxygenation to the area and can reduce inflammatory pain.
Manual Treatment
Hands on treatment for any muscular or joint injuries of the head, neck, back, or shoulder following a concussion. Manual therapy can reduce acute pain and allow patients to get more out of their concussion rehabilitation.
