
Susan is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the BC Hypnotherapy Association. Susan has her Master of Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, her Bachelor of Education from University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Science (Family Systems) from the University of Alberta.
Susan has been in the education system teaching and counseling for more than 30 years. She has supported and taught students from kindergarten to Grade 12 and taught EDCP 325 Approaches to Health Education at UBC Vancouver. As a high school counsellor, Susan loved assisting the students as they searched for their career passion and worked closely with students struggling with addictions, depression, anxiety, loss, and anger. As an Elementary Counsellor, Susan assisted students needing extra help with attentional concerns, anxiety, emotional regulation, and social issues. Collaborating with the families and teachers, Susan created support plans, and liaised with community agencies and medical professionals.
Susan’s daughter suffered a severe brain injury in 2017 and since then Susan has participated intensively in her rehabilitation. The experience of injury and recovery has been a valuable education about the process, but also of the vast array of medical modalities which may advance brain and body recovery. Susan is passionate about finding opportunities for growth and not allowing any sort of imitating beliefs or restrictions.
Susan’s life revolves around her home and family. She enjoys cooking, yoga, outdoor sports such as hiking, biking, skiing, and spending time with friends.
